Used to: past habits and states that are not true now

Use 'used to' + base verb for habits and states in the past that are not true now (I used to play football every weekend; She used to be shy). It's the same for all subjects: I used to, he used to, they used to. In negatives and questions we use did, so 'used' loses its -d: I didn't use to like vegetables; Did you use to wear glasses? A very common mistake is 'didn't used to' or 'Did you used to', because 'did' already shows the past. 'Used to' is only for the past: for present habits we use the present simple, often with 'usually' (Now I usually walk to work). Don't use 'used to' for a single action at a specific time: we say 'Last Saturday we went to a concert', not 'we used to go'. In these exercises, use the verbs in brackets; some items need the past simple or present simple instead.
